 Hello, BooBoo here.. |
Thank you all so much for your emails. Several readers have inquired if I knew where they could recycle old office furniture. Since I am not allowed on the furniture, I had to wrap my dog brain around this concept. But here ya go:for recycling office stuff, click here
Electronics can be recycled at our local HabiStore on Nov 14th! On that same note, a great way to recycle and support a great cause: here are just a few examples of items on the local Sahuaro Girl Scouts' "wish list": gift wrap paper tubes empty tissue boxes paper towel tubes clean empty 2-liter bottles small cardboard boxes ...to learn more, click below
P.S. For ink cartridges, check out Cartridge World. They will recycle your ink cartridges for free! CW will also provide gratis printer recycling bins for your office. Then next time you buy, opt for refillable cartridges. Call 520-298-2424 for details.
Several fans notified me of someone using my identity... here is a photo of the culprit. His real name is Ryan Perks, however, he appears to be quite happy with "BOO"!
Love to you all and, remember...
Bark less, wag more. Love, BooBoo

Is Your Family Safe?
With symptoms such as headache, fatigue, nausea, dizziness... you think your family has the flu, right? Unfortunately many people with carbon monoxide poisoning mistake their symptoms for the flu.
The National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) reports: Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is extremely poisonous and can kill within minutes. In the US each year, nearly 500 die while as many as 20,000 visit emergency rooms for exposure primarily from poorly-maintained heating systems or gas stoves and gas-powered generators used for heat or power during storms.

Protect Your Family! At the beginning of every heating season, have Temco's professionals check your gas furnace. Call 622-2909 today
Urgent Notice Manufacturer's rebate up to $1200 on a new system expires Nov 13! Click here for details.

5 Foods That Help You Sleep
Should you let yourself have that midnight snack if you're having trouble sleeping and you think hunger might be part of the problem? Here are five foods that can actually help you drift off:
1) Bananas: Potassium and magnesium are natural muscle relaxants, and bananas are a good source of both.
2) Cherries: Fresh and dried cherries are one of the only natural food sources of melatonin, the chemical that controls the body's internal clock to regulate sleep. Researchers who tested tart cherries and found high levels of melatonin recommend eating them an hour before bedtime or before a trip when you want to sleep on the plane.
3) Toast: Carbohydrate-rich foods trigger insulin production, which induces sleep. Bring on sleepiness by speeding up the release of tryptophan and serotonin, two brain chemicals that relax you and send you to sleep. 4) Oatmeal: Like toast, a bowl of oatmeal will trigger insulin production, raising blood sugar naturally and making you feel sleepy. Oats are also rich in melatonin, which many people take as a sleep aid. 5) Warm milk: Like bananas, milk contains the amino acid L-tryptophan, which turns to 5-HTP and releases relaxing serotonin. It's also high in calcium, which promotes sleep.
Foods that sabotage your sleep
Preserved and smoked meats, chocolate (bummer, eh?), energy drinks (even if you had them earlier in the day), tomato sauce, chili, pizza, and spicy foods. And, also
that nightcap! This last one needed more supporting information before I was willing to consider it... so here it is. A drink or two may make you feel more relaxed after dinner, but it comes back to haunt you-literally-a few hours later, by preventing you from achieving deep sleep. And because alcohol both dehydrates you and makes you have to pee, it wakes you up, too. Wine is high in the stimulant tyrosine as well. (sounds like 2 bananas could counteract the eggnog, eh?)
