"Did you know Temco Air has an A+ Rating and Accreditation from the Better Business Bureau? I didn't quite know what that meant so I got on my
lap-dog ..er..
laptop and did some research. According to the BBB,"It means you keep your promises and uphold our standards. BBB Accreditation is an honor and not every company is eligible. Every BBB Accredited Business is monitored for continuing adherence to our standards and reaffirms their commitment to those standards each year. Accreditation can be withdrawn at any time for failure to maintain BBB standards."
WOW, the BBB really means business!
p.s. Yup, that's my froggie from my grammy... | and it CROAKS!
DON'T BE MISLEAD
If you look in the phonebook under air conditioning contractors you will find 50+ ads all promising the same things (customer satisfaction guaranteed, quality work). If everyone was truly doing what they promised in their ads, our industry would not have such a sad reputation. HVAC wouldn't need to be in the top 3 categories most inquired about through the Better Business Bureau. Here are recent examples of ads from local HVAC companies that have generated customer calls to our office...
TAX CREDITS ON NEW A/C
A local company recently took out a newspaper ad with a coupon for over a $1000 "tax credit " and stated the expiration date on their coupon/offer as JUNE 15 this year. First, the tax credits are from the federal government, not a local a/c dealer. Second, the tax credits are valid for TWO YEARS, 2009 and 2010. Also, make sure you get verification that your new unit truly qualifies for the tax credit. Not all "high seer" equipment automatically qualifies. You can verify this on www.energystar.gov. At Temco Air, we provide you with the documentation you would need to support taking a tax credit for a new a/c system. You will need that documentation if you are ever audited in the future.
EQUIPMENT WARRANTIES
Some local companies have sent letters that appear to come from a "warranty center" stating your warranty is about to expire. Others appear to come from a "rebate center" with a "buy back" offer. In most cases the letters appear official and from your "supporting" hvac company. Do not be mislead by advertisements you receive, disguised as official documents.
You can always call our office if you have any questions regarding such offers. Call Temco Air Environmental

Changing the world one couch at a time!
You can always rely on old standbys like Goodwill or Salvation Army to take your used clothes, furniture, what have you, but here is yet another option:
HabiStore: By selling surplus new and used building and home improvement materials, appliances and furniture to the public the HabiStore is diverting more than 150 tons of material from the landfill each year. Usable materials, donated by retail businesses, contractors, individuals, and other organizations, are sold at below cost prices. Proceeds from the HabiStore fund the Habitat Tucson mission of eliminating poverty housing within our community.

What advice do you have for people facing the decision to purchase a new air conditioner?
Do your homework when selecting a company
As with any contractor, electrical, plumbing, whatever... do your homework when it comes to selecting the HVAC company you call for an estimate. Check out the business via the,
Find out if the company is adequately insured, and make sure they have been in business for at least 5 years. Get referrals! Or you could simply take the guess work out of it and check out the preferred contractors that the Rosie team has already prescreened for you, simply go to
Be careful to compare apples to apples! Not all estimates are created equal: watch for ways a company cuts corners to lower their price. Basics like the quality of equipment, filtration, warranty, what's included and what is not. Read the fine print. Do not accept estimates over the phone. Every home is different. We do load calcs to verify a customer's "existing" equipment is properly sized. If you just call and say I would like an estimate for a 3 ton AC but your house is over or under sized for this unit, it will hurt you in the long run as well.
And, remember, you get what you pay for. The sour taste of poor quality will outlast the sweet taste of low price every time.
