July 4th in Tubac, AZ was fabulous! The Tubac Country Club is very dog friendly and even gave me a bag of treats when I arrived. The casita we stayed in was luxurious (yes, I know what that word means...) and the grass just off our patio was soft and worthy of a dog nap daily. We saw incredible fireworks and ate wonderful food. My mom and dad said I traveled well so I expect to get back there for the NEXT 4th of July!
My cousins are visiting me from Utah, on their way to their new home in Florida.
Crosby and Marley only LOOK sad, they are really very happy. Especially when they get to howl at the golfers! FORE!

Put your money where your HOUSE is!
Shop Locally...
When you shop at a locally owned business, 45 cents of every dollar stays in Arizona - versus only 13 cents of every dollar spent at a national chain.
For every two jobs national retailers bring to a community, three jobs are lost as a result of local businesses closing down.
When you shop locally owned businesses, your money is re-circulated over and over and creates up to 75% more tax revenue to our community and state.
Independent businesses raise the standard of living in your community because they take their profits and buy products and services from other local businesses, thus creating more and more tax revenues needed for the community to thrive.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little "stringy things" off it. That's how the primates do it!
Bell Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size and get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving. |

City's Plastic Bag Ordinance On Sept. 24, an ordinance will go into effect in the city of Tucson requiring plastic bag recycling by retail establishments operating more than 10,000 square feet of retail space at two or more locations.
Pima Association of Governments (PAG) estimates that 182 million plastic bags are distributed in metropolitan Tucson each year.
Plastic bags are made from petroleum derivatives. According to Wilson Hughes, a waste reduction planner with Environmental Services, reusing or recycling one ton of plastic bags (132,000 bags) will save the energy equivalent of 11 barrels of oil. If Tucson's recycling of bags reaches 10 percent per year, that would save the equivalent of 1,517 barrels of oil. Just one of the many uses for recycled plactic bags is to build sturdy playground equipment.
To view the ordinance online, go to the City of Tucson's website: www.ci.tucson.az.us/agdocs/2009324/mar24-09-164.pdf

Abandoned Swimming Pools
You probably heard the news report recently about an 8 year old child drowning in a neighbor's abandoned pool. The home was foreclosed and no maintenance was being done on the pool. It was disgusting, murky, mosquito infested, and ACCESSIBLE! The news reporter mentioned some 3 or 4 million people in this country live next door to a foreclosed or vacant home with a pool. If you live near an "abandoned" swimming pool, please take a few minutes to check it out to make sure children and pets cannot gain access. Abandoned pools can be a death trap for small children and pets, as well as a prime breading ground for mosquitoes.
